Diving the Seli 1 shipwreck in Blouberg

A few years ago I was siting at home in my 5th floor sea view apartment on Blouberg beach front. It was quite a dark night and the northwester was so vicious my windows were bending. It was stressing me out, but at the same time something way more stressful was going on out at sea. A ship was coming towards the shore. And fast! It eventually got stuck and wrecked right in front of my apartment....
Meiringspoort waterfall and some neighbourhood frogs

Meiringspoort waterfall is on the N12 in the Swartberg mountains. A beautiful area and a lovely pass to drive through. The hike is 5mins or less and the pool is great for swimming. There are Plantanna frogs in the pool. The area was not receiving a lot of rainfall when went there which explains why the waterfall is so meagre.
Riding Kleinmond MTB Trail after the fire

While on holiday there I took a solo ride on the Kleinmond local MTB trail. There was a big fire there a few weeks earlier so the place it pretty burned, but still has its own beauty. Fun little day out. Paddling our surfskis to Robben Island and having a quick snorkel while there. Waters were an icy 11°C.
Dassen Island, with special permission

A beautiful west coast gem. Dassen Island sits just a few kms off Yzerfontein. On a weekend in spring 10 of us went to over to help remove trash and do a cleanup to remove plastic washed up there. The island is off-limits and can only be accessed with permission. Massive thanks to Greg Player at Clean C, and Plastics Federation of South Africa, as well as Cape Nature and everyone else involved....
